A teenager accused of stabbing a female student at school will seek release from custody.
Marc Rajan Taylor, 18, allegedly knifed a young woman, 18, multiple times at Lutheran College in Kamerunga, north-west of Cairns, at 10.35am on Tuesday.
The alleged victim who was rushed to hospital in critical condition, cannot be named for legal reasons.
Taylor faced Cairns Magistrates Court on Wednesday charged with attempted murder.
The court heard that Taylor had approached the student as she sat with her friends during morning recess, according to 7News.

He then allegedly pulled out a blade and carried out the attack in front of fellow students and teaching staff before he was restrained, the court heard.

The teenage girl remains in Cairns Hospital and underwent surgery on Wednesday.
A crime scene was declared and police have uncovered a knife at the school.
Detective acting Inspector Jason Chetham described the incident as ‘very traumatic’ and said police are ‘investigating what the relationship is between the parties’.
Taylor will apply for bail when he faces court again on June 12.

Peace Lutheran College said in a statement that support was being provided to students who were affected by the incident.
‘Our thoughts and prayers are with all members of our community during this difficult time,’ the school said.
‘The safety and wellbeing of all members of our community is our highest priority.’
‘We ask the community to keep our injured student in their prayers.’
