Elton John becomes an EGOT winner after scooping his first Emmy award

Sir Elton John can now add the very prestigious EGOT title to his eye-popping resume.

The legendary musician, 76, became the 19th star to scoop the coveted gong after winning his first-ever Emmy Award Monday night.

The “Tiny Dancer” hitmaker emerged victorious in the Outstanding Variety Special (Live) category for his Disney+ special, “Elton John Live: Farewell from Dodger Stadium.”

While the icon wasn’t in attendance at the Los Angeles’ Peacock Theater to accept his award due to a knee injury, his husband David Furnish, and the special’s executive producer Ben Winston picked up the award on his behalf.

“I am incredibly humbled to be joining the unbelievably talented group of EGOT winners tonight,” the “Rocket Man” singer said in a statement.

“The journey to this moment has been filled with passion, dedication, and the unwavering support of my fans all around the world.”

The Brit also thanked everyone who has supported him throughout his glittering career, saying, “Tonight is a testament to the power of the arts and the joy that it brings to all our lives.”

“Thank you to everyone who has supported me throughout my career, I am incredibly grateful,” he added.

Furnish revealed that his famous hubby “screamed out loud” when he found out about his Emmys win.

“We FaceTimed him. We woke him up in the middle of the night,” he shared. “He’s back in the UK.”

“He’s had his left knee replaced, which isn’t surprising when you think of how many pianos he’s jumped off,” Furnish continued.

“He screamed out loud. He was like, ‘Yes!’ He was really happy, incredibly honored. He said, ‘I’m lucky to be in such talented and esteemed company.’ “

The musician had previously won an Academy Award for Best Original Song for “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” from the hit 1994 movie “The Lion King.”

He later picked up his second Oscar at the 2020 ceremony for “(I’m Gonna) Love Me Again,” from his 2019 biopic “Rocketman.”

Elton picked up a Tony Award in 2000 for Best Original Score for the musical “Aida” — which later helped him land the Best Musical Theatre Album Grammy Award back in 2001, which now sits alongside six of his other Grammy wins.

Other EGOT winners include Viola Davis, John Legend, Jennifer Hudson, Whoopi Goldberg, Andrew Lloyd Webber, and Audrey Hepburn, to name a few.
