Two women were driving an allegedly stolen Mercedes Benz through East Ipswich yesterday afternoon with police in pursuit.

But their alleged joyride came to an end when it crashed into 85-year-old Doreen Hayes’ house just before 5pm.

“There was just this loud bang and I thought ‘what’s happening?’,” she said.

“The mess, it was carnage,” TBuild’s Clayton Grant said.

“It was leaning up against the house, yeah it caused a bit of damage to the house.”

Hayes found the crash had destroyed her car and carport, narrowly avoiding significant damage to her home.

“Devastated,” she said about the damage.

“I would like to come face-to-face with the two that did it.

“I don’t think I’d say anything but just a dirty look would let them know how bad I feel about it.”

Police said the silver luxury car was allegedly stolen from a home at Durack late on Thursday night.

Officers were on hand yesterday following reports it was being driven dangerously across Ipswich.

Witnesses told 9News the car was being followed by police when it narrowly missed parked cars, turned around at a cul de sac and sped away before it lost control and ploughed into Hayes’ house.

The two women were arrested and both charged with numerous driving offences and possessing dangerous drugs.

They fronted court this morning while works were underway to clean up the mess left behind from the crash.
