A WINNER of The Voice has been shot in the stomach and rushed to hospital in an air ambulance.
Country singer Sundance Head, 46, was left fighting for his life as his heartbroken wife asked all of his loyal fans to prayer for his recovery.
Head’s agent, Trey Newman, said that the music star is currently in a “stable” condition in a Texas hospital.
The gunshot wound hit his navel area but reportedly managed to miss all of his vital organs.
Newman told The New York Post: “We don’t know if it was an accident with his gun or if it was another hunter nearby.
“The bullet is lodged in some fatty tissue, and the only way it could have happened is if it travelled through something else.”
He also confirmed that it “was not self-inflicted”.
The accident took place at Head’s Texas ranch on Friday.
He posted a photo just hours before the serious injury showing him waking up inside a tent by his home.
The singer is known for his love of hunting and shooting.
Head was alone at the time of the concerning incident and managed to call 911 by himself, it is believed.
Head’s wife, Misty, later said that he didn’t require emergency surgery like first thought.
This is Misty – I don’t have a lot of information but please keep Sundance in your prayers

Doctors have decided to not remove the bullet at this moment in time, she confirmed.
After first hearing about the accident on Friday Misty urged her husband’s supporters to keep him in their prayers.
A gut wrenching message was posted on Facebook saying: “Prayer Warriors we need y’all.
“This is Misty – I don’t have a lot of information but please keep Sundance in your prayers.
“Sundance has been life-flighted with a gunshot wound to his stomach per the paramedics who called me.
“They did get him stable for the flight (per the paramedic) We are on our way to Tyler now.
“Again this is the only information I have at the time. Please just keep him in your prayers.”
Head – whose real name is Jason – won season 11 of The Voice USA and shot to fame with the American public in 2016.
He was also a prominent figure of American Idol in 2007 where he made it to the semi final stage.
After his talent show victory, Head signed with Dean Dillon’s Wildcatter Records in 2018.
He has released four acclaimed albums since with the most recent coming out in 2022.
Some of his most popular tracks include Darlin’ Don’t Go, Leave Her Wild and Close Enough to Walk.
Head was also due to perform a total of nine shows across Texas this December.
It is currently unclear if those will go ahead.
