4 Dead in Idaho Shooting; Neighbor in Custody for Murders

Four people were found shot to death in a home in Kellogg, Idaho, Sunday night, and a 31-year-old neighbor has been taken into custody on probable cause for their murders.

“This is a tragic situation that will affect the Kellogg community. Detectives continue working to establish a timeline and what led to the shooting,” said District 1 Investigations Lieutenant Paul Berger, KREM reported. “As this case will go through the judicial process, we are ensuring every angle is covered with a thorough investigation.”

Authorities have declined to identify the victims until the coroner’s office has completed its work or the suspect until after his initial court appearance, expected to be Tuesday morning, KXLY reported.

The Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office said that deputies and officers from the Kellogg Police Department responded to the home just before 7:30 p.m. on Sunday and found the victims dead from gunshot wounds.

“The suspect has been detained and there is no threat to the community,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.

Investigators have released no further information, including potential motives or the nature of the relationship between the suspect and the victims.

Mountain Valley of Cascadia, a nursing home and rehabilitation center just steps away from the scene, confirmed to KREM that one of the victims was an employee.
