Alan Shearer says Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe is ‘happy at a big club’ after Danny Murphy joked that he is the ‘favourite’ to be Chelsea’s next manager.
The Newcastle United legend was reacting to Graham Potter’s sacking as Chelsea manager on Sunday evening, which also saw Brendan Rodgers booted out by Leicester City.
Whilst Eddie Howe’s side enjoyed a deserved 2-0 win over Manchester United to move them third in the Premier League table, everything around them was going haywire.

At first, Brendan Rodgers was told his services were no longer required at relegation-threatened Leicester, who suffered a last-minute defeat to Crystal Palace on Saturday.
And then hours later, Potter’s miserable time at Stamford Bridge came to an end, with his Chelsea side losing to Unai Emery’s Aston Villa and dropping into the bottom half of the Premier League table.
Nonetheless, when Danny Murphy made a cheeky comment about Eddie Howe and Chelsea, his fellow pundit had a simple response, as he told Match of the Day 2.
“Eddie Howe is the favourite, isn’t he?” laughed Murphy after being told that Brendan Rodgers is now on Chelsea’s manager list.

NEWCASTLE SURGING TOWARDS THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE
The Magpies are ahead of schedule, but they are surging towards making a long-awaited return to Champions League football.
It wasn’t so long ago that they couldn’t even win a game of football under Steve Bruce.
But fast forward to the present and the good times are now back at St James’ Park, with Eddie Howe leading that charge, as the likes of eighth-placed Liverpool and 11th-placed Chelsea fall behind.
