After Granit Xhaka fired Arsenal into an early lead against Sporting CP, Pedro ‘Pote’ Goncalves replicated the incredible strike Nayim scored for Real Zaragoza in the 1995 UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup Final against the Gunners.
Another potential similarity could well be that much like Nayim, Pedro Goncalves could end up at Tottenham Hotspur, as it was reported that the club scouted him for Sporting.
However, the similarities between the strikes from Nayim and Pedro Goncalves are uncanny, as the pair struck the ball past the goalkeeper from just in front of the halfway line. And that too against the same opponents in Arsenal, which makes this yet another staggering resemblance.
Tottenham will certainly be encouraged watching Pote replicate that very strike and that too against their bitter rivals.
Who scored the better goal vs Arsenal: Nayim or Pedro Goncalves?
That’s a tough call to make.

Based on the magnitude of the occasion alone, Nayim certainly beats Pedro Goncalves, considering he pulled off a moment of sheer magic in a cup final of all games.
However, based on which goal is the tougher to execute; that could be a completely different conversation entirely.
It ultimately depends on which strike is considered the tougher skill: while Nayim let the ball bounce before half-volleying it past legendary Arsenal goalkeeper David Seaman, Pedro Goncalves carried the ball forward before lobbing it past Aaron Ramsdale.
Both goals are virtually impossible to execute and that too against one of the best teams in the world when it comes to each instance.
However, the sheer audacity of Pedro Goncalves’ strike against Arsenal could well mean that he pips Nayim.
All in all, Tottenham may well speed up their pursuit of the ‘new Bruno Fernandes’ as he stunned Mikel Arteta’s side and proved why the hype around his name is indeed justified.
