Anjali’s friend Nidhi, who was with her, has said she’d left the site in panic after the accident. Nidhi also stated that she did not tell anyone about the collision “out of fear”.

In a statement claimed by Nidhi, she stated that the accident was the car driver’s fault, though the person in the Maruti Baleno said the scooter was going off course and that caused the collision.
In the accident soon after, Anjali Singh fell in front of the car while Nidhi fell on the other side of the road. That’s why Nidhi escaped without injury, but Anjali’s leg was stuck in the car’s front axle and Anjali was dragged through the streets before one of the 5 men noticed after about 13 km.

Anjali Singh’s Death
Anjali Singh’s Autopsy rules out physical assault, and confirms death due to ‘head injuries’. Anjali’s post-mortem was conducted on Monday 2 January 2023 at Maulana Azad Medical College by its medical board.
The Autopsy report states the Interim cause of death as shock & hemorrhage due to antemortem injury to the head, left femur, spine, and both lower limbs. All injuries happen due to blunt force impact and perhaps with a vehicular accident and dragging.

Charges on Five People In The Murder of Anjali Singh
The 5 people Krishan (27), Manoj Mittal (27), Deepak Khanna (26), Mithun (26), and Amit Khanna (25), who have reportedly arrested for being drunk at the time, and charged with ‘culpable homicide not amounting to murder’, rash driving, and causing death by negligence, and have been sent to 3-day police custody.
They all said they sped away in panic after hitting the scooter of Anjali and Nidhi. It was after the car had covered 13 kilometers, dragging the woman through the streets.
One of the men noticed an arm sticking out at a U-turn, and they stopped, Anjali’s body fell off, and they drove away.
The case was resolved after police responded to calls from people who saw the body being dragged.
