She’s the youngest of three kids, with an older sister and an older brother. Vanessa started singing at six, performing at events and raising money for Childhelp. Hollywood noticed her in 1999, and she got a scholarship at an acting academy.
In the same year, she won Junior Miss America and became the top vocalist at the National Date Festival. In 2000, she won the African-American Vocal Competition.
