The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) had instructed him to quarantine for 14 days in Thalaghattapura, Bengaluru, after his travel from Bihar to Hyderabad and then to Bengaluru on July 15, 2020.

However, instead of adhering to quarantine rules, he went for an interview. Following an FIR, he turned off his phone, but the police arrested him on July 20, 2020, in Mysuru.

In addition to the quarantine incident, Drone Prathap faced controversy in 2020 related to his aerospace claims. During an interview, he struggled to answer basic aerospace questions, raising doubts about his credentials.

Despite asserting that he had won international awards in the field, he refused to present the drones he claimed to have built.

He mentioned winning a gold medal at iRex 2017, but media reports contradicted this, and the Japan Robot Association (JARA) stated that no such event occurred in 2017. Furthermore, he claimed to receive the Albert Einstein Innovation Gold Medal at the CeBIT expo in Hannover, Germany, in 2018.

However, reports indicated that there was no such award at the CeBIT competition. Additionally, an image he shared with a drone, claiming to have built it, was questioned by the German drone maker BillzEye-Multicoptersysteme, who suggested they made the drone, and Prathap was just one of the individuals photographed with it at the expo.
