Lauren McCluskey (Born: 12 February 1997; Died: 22 October 2018), was an American Athlete student from Pullman, Washington, USA. She was a student at the University of Utah. On 22 October 2018, she was shot and murdered at night by Melvin Rowland.

Melvin was later registered as a sex offender or rapist. He was also convicted of forcible physical abuse and enticing a minor, both felonies, in 2004. In the past, Lauren and Melvin were in a relationship.
Currently, her death is in the news, because of The University of Utah’s idea to hold a series of “listening sessions” about the 2018 murder of student-athlete Lauren in reaction to ESPN’s upcoming documentary, “LISTEN,” the school announced Friday. The documentary inspected the institutional defeat that led to the Athlete’s death.

Lauren McCluskey was born on 12 February 1997 in Pullman, Washington, United States of America. Therefore, Lauren was 21 years old at the time of her death. Her parents are Jill McCluskey (mother) and Matt McCluskey (father). Lauren did her high school at Pullman High School for her schooling education.
McCluskey was a state champion in the high jump and also had a 3.75-grade point average, and she was about to graduate in May 2019 from The University of Utah.

She was a senior track standout studying communications. Lauren’s mother, Jill McCluskey, also told her that her daughter was the school record holder in the T100m hurdles.
She was in a relationship with Melvin Rowland. Lauren told to her mother that Melvin lied to her about the various sexual charges against him.
According to Utah Police, Melvin Rowland is responsible for the death of Lauren.
She was found murdered in the back seat of a parked car near a residential hall on campus. He dragged her to a different spot in the parking lot, where he forced her into the back seat of a car, and shot her many times, killing her.
Moreover, Rowland also killed himself hours later inside a nearby church. Rowland died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Lauren wasn’t married at the time of her death. She was single and previously in a relationship with Melvin Rowland, and he killed her on 22 October 2018.
