Former Indian PM Lal Bahadur Shastri’s grandson Vibhakar Shastri resigned from the Political party Congress and became a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Lucknow BJP office on 14 February 2024. Due to Vibhakar’s resignation from the Congress, Congress suffered another setback.
Vibhakar joined the BJP in the presence of UP Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak. After joining the BJP, Vibhakar said that he would be able to serve the country in a better way under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi. He also said that he would work as per the instructions of the party leadership.
Vibhakar announced his resignation from Congress in a post addressed to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on the social media platform. Vibhakar said,
