Pauw represented the Netherlands while she was a player, and Bert oversaw the group. He instructed her as well. Pauw, her partner and the coach of the Republic of Ireland, is 17 years younger than she is.
In what was then VSV Vreeswijk, Vera was born on January 18, 1963. On December 28, 1945, in Delft, Netherlands, Bert van Lingen was born.
Pauw was appointed coach and technical director of Scotland in September 1998, and at the same time, her husband Bert van Lingen was serving as Glasgow Rangers’ assistant manager.

She left in October 2004 to accept a similar position with the Netherlands and guided her native nation to the UEFA Women’s Euro 2009 semifinals.

Pauw used to play street football with her two brothers as a kid. Pauw joined SV Bredorodes’ women’s squad when she was 13 years old, and at age 18 she transferred to VSV Vreeswijk to play at a higher level.
She soon joined the Netherlands women’s national football squad and participated in 89 international games between 1983 and 1998, however she was never able to get to the World Cup or European Championship finals.
