Chief Shared Services Officer at Rand Water, Teboho Joala passed away on 29 January 2024 in a fatal shooting during a school donation drive in Zakariyya Park, south of Johannesburg.
The fatal shooting occurred when Teboho was engaged in a community service initiative during a back-to-school event handling school shoes and uniforms. He along with his bodyguard lost their lives in Zakariyya Park when an unidentified gunman attacked them. His funeral service was held in Pretoria on 4 February 2024.
Rand Water CEO Sipho Mosai and bulk water utility’s chairperson Ramateu Monyokolo escaped death by a whisker. Sipho said,
“I don’t want to talk about this right now. I am still mourning the death of my colleague. I am not in the good space to talk about that incident.”
