R.K Krishna Kumar Wiki:- Raymond Kuttambally Tata Sons’ director was an Indian business executive named Krishna Kumar. He was a trustee for Sir Dorabji Tata Trust and Sir Ratan Tata Trust, which own 66 percent of Tata Sons, and a member of the Tata Administrative Service. His achievements are credited with a number of Tata Group acquisitions, including the £ 271 million purchase of Tetley in 2000 that elevated Tata Global Beverages to the position of second-largest tea producer in the world.

From 1997 until 2002, Kumar served as the Indian Hotels Company’s CEO before being named a member of the board of directors of Tata Sons, the Group’s holding company. He returned to Indian Hotels Company as its vice chairman and managing director after leaving the board a year earlier and remained there until 2007, when he became a trustee for Sir Dorabji Tata Trust, one of the major investors in Tata Sons. For his achievements to Indian trade and industry, the Indian government gave him the fourth highest civilian honour, the Padma Shri, in 2009.


Parents And Education
Krishna Kumar was raised at Madras Christian College Higher Secondary School in Chennai, where his father was the Police Commissioner, and was born in Thalassery, in the southern Indian state of Kerala. His parents are Sukumaran and Sarojini. After finishing his graduate work at Loyola College in Chennai, he received a first-class master’s degree from Presidency College of the University of Madras.
Career
Krishna Kumar was married to his wife Ratna and the couple had a son, his name is Ajit. In 1963, Kumar began his career by joining Tata Administrative Services. He was later assigned to work for Tata Industries for two years. He joined Tata Global Beverages, then known as Tata Finlay, in 1965 and stayed there during the company’s transformation into Tata Tea, rising to the position of vice president of South India Plantations in 1982. In 1988, he was made joint managing director of the business, and three years later, he was made sole managing director. He held this position until 1997, when he was transferred to Indian Hotels Company, the hospitality division of the Tata Group that includes Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces, as head of the division.

Death
R K Krishna kumar, a veteran of the Tata Group and a former director of Tata Sons, died on January 1 in Mumbai from a heart attack. Kumar’s career run for five decades, and he worked his way up through the organisation. The cremation will take place at the Marine Lines Chandanwadi Crematorium at around 4.30 p.m. An ex-director of Tata Sons and former vice chairman of IHCL, Krishna kumar passed away here on Sunday at the age of 84. R.K. Krishna kumar received an elegant tribute from Ratan Tata on Monday, his former close friend. Here, on January 1st, Krishna kumar died away.
