Palhinha Jogador defended the colors of Atlético-MG. He played for the club between 1980 and 1981. He scored 27 goals in 77 appearances. He was part of one of the great Galo squadrons. He was a 2-time champion of Minas Gerais and runner-up in the 1980 Brazilian Championship.

He was also in the 1981 Libertadores, including on the field in the controversial game against Flamengo in Serra Dourada, where Atlético had five players expelled, including Palhinha himself.
