An independent Palestinian photojournalist Motaz Azaiza has evacuated after spending/surving 108 days of reporting amid relentless bombings and battles.

His social media coverage of the war in Gaza gave millions of people around the world a view of life,  death, and the destruction in the besieged territory.

Motaz covered the destructive bombardment of the Palestinian territory of Israel since Israel declared war against Hamas. 

Motaz told nearly 20 million followers in a video posted on his social media accounts on 23 January 2024 that he was laying down his blue “Press” flak jacket for now. The caption read, 

I had to evacuate for a lot of reasons you all know some of it but not all of it.

“I’m sorry but, inshallah (God willing), hopefully soon I will come back … and help build Gaza again.”
