“Miles Pfeffer shot the Temple University police officer Christopher Fitzgerald and killed him near campus in Philadelphia on 18 February 2023. Miles was arrested after 7 a.m. on 19 February 2023 at his Buckingham Township home by Philadelphia police.

Country prosecutors said,

“Police used the fallen officer’s handcuffs in placing the suspect under arrest.”

Temple University said,

“Officer Christopher Fitzgerald was shot and killed in Philadelphia Saturday while responding to a robbery.”

Miles will face charges of murder, robbery, carjacking, and weapons crimes.

District Attorney Larry Krasner said in a statement on 19 February 2023,

“Pfeffer is also alleged to have attempted to rob Officer Fitzgerald of his gun and to have gone through his pockets, while the officer was laying on the ground and fatally wounded. Pfeffer is further alleged to have committed a carjacking a short time after, close to the location of the officer’s murder.”

Christopher was rushed to Temple University Hospital where he was declared dead. Christopher had been on the university police force since October 2021.
