Yankina died after falling 160 feet, and some of her personal items and papers were discovered on the building’s balcony. Authorities who are currently conducting an initial investigation think Yankina committed suicide.
Career
Yankina previously worked for the Federal Tax Service and held the position of deputy chairman of the Property Relations Committee of St. Petersburg before joining the Western Military region. She is thought to have been in the epicentre of initiatives to increase funds for the conflict that Russia started on February 24.

Her passing occurs just a few days after Major General Vladimir Makarov, a Russian general recently dismissed by Russian President Vladimir Putin, was discovered dead in what appeared to be a suicide, according to the press.

Yankina is thought to have died after plunging 160 feet. According to the news report, she had a significant role in the financing of Russia’s military campaign in Ukraine. The DailyMail reports that the Russian Investigative Committee and the Western Military District ‘Fontanka’ news office had both confirmed her death and begun an investigation into her inexplicable fall.
Her personal effects were discovered on the building’s 16th floor. According to a news source citing the media outlet “Mash on Moika,” Yankina called her ex-husband and told him what she planned to do.

She was a former employee of Russia’s Federal Tax agency who joined the Western Military District as an entry-level employee and quickly advanced to the position of chief of finance, according to information cited by the investigative outlet Meduza.
She is the second top military figure from Russia to pass away this week in circumstances that were purportedly determined to be a suicide by officials.
Major General Vladimir Makarov, who allegedly oversaw the persecution of journalists, opposition figures, and protestors while serving as director of the Chief Directorate for Combating Extremism, allegedly shot himself on Monday, one month after being fired by President Putin.

Yankina’s death was confirmed by the Russian Investigative Committee, which also commissioned an inquiry. Yankina was the deputy chairperson of the Property Relations Committee in St. Petersburg and previously worked for the Federal Tax Service.
She joins a litany of well-known Russian politicians and businessmen who inexplicably passed away after Moscow declared war on Ukraine. Numerous more well-known people, some of whom were reportedly close to Vladimir Putin, have passed away in unknown circumstances.
