Loren Broadbent is known for being the father of Hydeia Loren Broadbent who passed away at the age of 39 on 20 February 2024.
She was born with undiagnosed HIV so she became an HIV/AIDS activist. She used to take three antiretroviral pills a day. She used to say,
“HIV is not a death sentence, but it’s a life sentence…[y]ou’ll be taking pills forever, going to the doctor, and fighting for insurance forever.”
Loren Broadbent announced his daughter’s demise on Facebook,
“With great sadness, I must inform you all that our beloved friend, mentor, and daughter Hydeia, passed away today after living with Aids since birth. Despite facing numerous challenges throughout her life, Hydeia remained determined to spread hope and positivity through education around Hiv/AIDS”

Loren Broadbent and his wife Patricia Broadbent adopted Hydeia Broadbent who was abandoned at the time of birth by her mother at the University Medical Center of Southern Nevada in Las Vegas.
Hydeia was 6 months old when she was taken as a foster child by Loren and Patricia Broadbent. The couple adopted her when Hydeia was 3 years old. Around the same time.
Loren and his wife knew that Hydeia was born HIV positive with an advancement to AIDS. It was predicted that she would not live beyond the age of 5.
However, Hydeia survived by the age of 39.
Hydeia Broadbent was called “Baby Girl Kellogg” initially but later she was named Hydeia by her sibling Briana who was also adopted as an infant by Loren and Patricia.
Loren Broadbent’s wife went to great lengths to offer a good life to Hydeia and she became part of several HIV/AIDS support groups. Patricia attended the 1989 National Pediatric AIDS Conference in Los Angeles and she enrolled Hydeia in a clinical drug trial run by the NIH for children living with HIV/AIDS.
Loren Braodbent’s daughter Hydeia passed away at the age of 39 at her home in her sleep.
