In third grade at Don Bosco Makati, he tried his luck at joining a basketball squad. He participated in a nationally televised exhibition game in front of a PBA crowd when he was a sixth-grader. The Ateneo Grade School’s Small Basketeers squad was the opponent for his squad.

Although Tenorio’s squad lost, he pretty much stole the show with 31 points in just 21 minutes of action. After finishing elementary school, he first attended Adamson under the direction of coach Charlie Dy before moving to San Beda under the legendary Ato Badolato.

Career

Tenorio established himself on the squad for Smart Gilas 2.0. The renowned 2012 William Jones Cup, which took place in Taipei from August 18–26, served as the Gilas’ inaugural competition. Before playing the USA Team in their final contest, Gilas had a stellar 6-1 record.

Tenorio finished with 20 points and the game’s most significant recovery, helping the team defeat the USA squad 76-75. With a 7-1 record, Gilas took first place in the competition, becoming the Philippines’ fourth Jones Cup winner. After his final performance against the tenacious USA Team, Tenorio ultimately earned the title of Most Valuable Player of the Tournament.
