Fans and coaching staff of the Buffalo Bills can breathe a sigh of relief with the news that Josh Allen‘s injury isn’t as serious as first feared.

Earlier in the week word filtered that the NFL quarterback had injured his elbow, raising concerns as to his health for the remainder of the season.

Josh Allen’s injury report

“My understanding is that it’s a UCL sprain, I think that’s the proper term, which is a small tear. Some kind of UCL injury in his throwing [elbow],” NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport said on The Insiders podcast.

“If you look at it in slow motion, it’s a lot worse.

“It looks like something Allen will be able to handle. I don’t know for sure that he’ll play this week.

“But it looks like a short-term injury and it looks like something the team believes he’ll be able to play through.”

Allen suffered the injury in Buffalo’s loss to the New York Jets, a game in which the quarterback struggled.

Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs celebrated the news with a tweet prior to the information being released.

“Rejoice,” Diggs posted.

Bills will be cautious

While Allen’s injury won’t keep him out long term, Buffalo will be cautious with their MVP candidate.

“There’s hope in Buffalo that Allen can practice and play his way through this injury,” NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo said. “But we’ll wait for the final diagnosis.

“(The Bills) will be absolutely cautious here,” Tom Pelissero added.
