Jenny Cavnar is an American sports broadcaster. She is the television play-by-play announcer of the Oakland Athletics of MLB. Jenny has become the first female primary MLB play-by-play announcer in history. She is also a play-by-play announcer for men’s and women’s college basketball on Fox Sports 1 and the Pac-12 Network.

NBC Sports California hired Veteran baseball broadcaster Jenny Cavnar as the new primary play-by-play announcer for the Oakland Athletics.

The announcement was made on 13 February 2024. Jenny has become the first woman in MLB history in a quarter-century to handle primary play-by-play duties.

Jenny Cavnar said in a statement,  

“It is a dream come true to join the broadcast team for the Oakland A’s and their rich baseball history. Growing up the daughter of a baseball coach, I have loved the game from a young age, along with the stories, history and relationships the game provides. I’m excited to start my 18th season as a major league broadcaster with my good friend Dallas Braden and share our experiences with the loyal fans of the Athletics as we go on this ride together.”

Jenny Cavnar started work for WJRT-TV in Flint, Michigan where she used to cover high school and college sports after graduating from Colorado State. She was hired by Channel 4 San Diego in 2007 for their pregame and postgame shows for the San Diego Padres of Major League Baseball.

On 2 July 2015, Jenny became the first woman for a National League baseball game to provide color commentary on the radio for KOA. She also served for both men’s and women’s college basketball games on the broadcast team on the Pac 12 Network and Fox Sports 1. She also won the Colorado Sportscaster of the Year Award in 2021 from the National Sports Media Association. She has won 5 Emmy Awards.
