Then, more than a hundred Samajwadi Party goondas—musclemen employed by political organisations for the purpose of inciting violence—entered the dorm and began abusing the students and lecturers. Unable to get permission, a sizable group of police officers under the command of SSP Yashashvi Yadav stormed onto the campus and, according to reports, grabbed principal Dr. Navneet Kumar by the collar. The cops physically thrashed the students and detained 24 juniors.
