Umer Ahmed Ilyasi was born on 15 August 1969 in Mewat, Haryana, India to Maulana Jameel Ilyasi (Father). He belongs to a well-known preacher family.

Umer Ahmed Ilyasi is the head of All India Imam Organization in which there are more than 5 lakh Imams as the voice of 21 crore Indian Muslims. This is the largest organization of Imams in the world which has received recognition at the national and international level.
He is an expert in Islamic law and is considered one of the few Islamic Intellectuals.
Umer Ahmed Ilyasi has been honored with many awards in the country and the world for peace and harmony.
When a protest was held against the Citizenship Amendment Act in the country he issued a statement saying that first people should understand CAA and NRC. Even then if they find something wrong they should run the protest peacefully becasue it’s not right to damage government property.
He said,
“Those who love me, love the nation – will support me. Those who hate me for attending the ceremony should perhaps go to Pakistan.”
Umer Ahmed Ilyasi alleged that there is a group of people that is trying to create an environment of hatred against him and it is a conspiracy against him.
The fatwa labels him a ‘Kaafir’ including threats to his life. Mufti classes owner Mufti Sabir Hussaini issued the fatwa against him.
Umer Ahmed Ilyasi revealed that he took 2 days to confirm the invitation to go to Ayodhyaa and it was the biggest decision of his life that was taken by him and he went for harmony and the country. He said,
“They are giving death threats to me and my family, but I want to tell them clearly that India is not an Islamic nation where all these tactics will work. If they don’t like the message of love and brotherhood I am spreading, they should go to Pakistan.”
He also said that he didn’t commit any crime so he would neither apologise nor resign. He said,
“I have given a message of love.”

In history, this is the first time when a fatwa has been issued. However, Imam has filed a complaint with the Delhi Police Commissioner, the home secretary, and the home minister to look into this matter.
