Hideki Matsui is a Japanese former professional baseball outfielder and designated hitter. He played baseball in Nippon Professional Baseball and Major League Baseball. He played the first 10 seasons of his career in Japan for NPB’s Yomiuri Giants. He batted left and threw right. He made his professional NPB debut on 1 May 1993 for the Yomiui Giants and MLB debut on 31 March 2003 for the New York Yankees.
Hideki Matsui was a 9-time All-Star, 3 times Japan Series Champion, and 3 times Central League Most Valuable Player.
When he was a Yankee, he was a 2 times All-Star and 2009 World Series champion for which his name was given to the World Series MVP.
As he became a free agent, Matsui signed a contract with three other MLB teams the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Oakland Athletics, and Tampa Bay Rays.
