Govt Efforts Alone Cannot Be Successful, People’s Participation Required Says PM Modi- Find Out More
On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasised the significance of public involvement in water conservation measures and claimed that government efforts alone cannot be successful. Modi said water should be a topic of cooperation, collaboration, and coordination among states in his virtual address to the first national conference of water ministers from states, and he urged them to plan ahead in light of the rapid rate of urbanisation. He argued for promoting crop diversification and natural farming and noted that industries like farming and industry consume the most water. In order to prevent water bodies from becoming contaminated, Modi also urged states to concentrate on waste management and sewage treatment, saying they may utilise the “Namami Gange” project as a model. Participation in any programme fosters ownership among participants, which is essential for success, according to him. The “Swachh Bharat” (clean India) campaign was touted by Modi as an effective illustration of this.

Catch The Rain Campaign
The prime minister emphasised the “Catch the Rain” initiative and emphasised again that such programmes should become an integral element of State administrations and should be examined every year. Drives are held to build check dams and water harvesting pits as part of the campaign for rainwater gathering. Desilting of tanks and the removal of encroachments are also included. The planning must be completed in advance of the rains rather than waiting for them, according to Mr. Modi. The government has placed a lot of focus on the issue in the Budget, according to the Prime Minister, who also emphasised the significance of circular economy in the area of water conservation. All of the planning must be completed before the rains, not after, Mr. Modi said. The government has placed a lot of focus on the issue in the Budget, according to the Prime Minister, who also emphasised the significance of circular economy in the area of water conservation.

Namami Gange Mission
By using the Namami Gange Mission as a model, other governments will be able to launch their own river protection initiatives. Every state must make water a topic of cooperation and coordination, according to the prime minister. Key decision-makers will discuss “means to exploit water resources for sustainable development” at the all-India water ministers’ meeting, which will be held under the theme “Water Vision@2047,” according to the government.
