His first single, “Wapunza,” has been viewed over 4.3 million times on YouTube as of October 2023. In 2019, Mapanzure was nominated for an AFRIMA award in the “Best Artiste, Duo, or Group in the African R’N’B & Soul” category for his song “TV Room,” a collaboration with Hillzy.
In November 2018, he participated in the emPawa Africa challenge, created by Mr Eazi to help up-and-coming African artists launch their careers. On 13 October 2023, Garry Mapanzure died from injuries sustained in a traffic accident in Masvingo. He passed away at the age of 25.

What Happened To Garry Mapanzure?
Garry Mapanzure is dead in a tragic accident on the Beitbridge-Masvingo Highway in Masvingo, Zimbabwe. The accident involved the vehicle driven by his sister, leading to a collision with another vehicle near the Clipsham Views residential area.
Sadly, the collision resulted in the loss of two lives, including Mapanzure’s nephew and Langton Madima, the President of the Great Zimbabwe University Students Representative Council.
Images from the accident site depict the severe impact, with a maroon Toyota Vitz severely damaged beyond repair and a grey vehicle, presumably the other involved vehicle, seen at a distance on the road. This heartbreaking incident has deeply affected the Zimbabwean community, leaving behind a void in the hearts of those touched by Garry Mapanzure’s music and presence.
