Erwin Olaf was a Dutch photographer from Hilversum. His work is described as straddling “the worlds of commercial, art, and fashion photography at one” by Time magazine. His art was shown in galleries and museums. He designed the 2014 Dutch euro coins with the portrait of King Willem-Alexander.
Erwin Olf passed away at the age of 64 on 20 September 2023 after a long-term emphysema weeks after receiving a lung transplant. He was diagnosed with emphysema in 1996. Erwin won the Medal of Honour for Science and Arts on 13 March 2023.

Erwin Olaf was gay. He was a member of the LGBTQ+ community. He was married to Kevin Ray Edwards who appeared in a movie titled Erwin Olaf – The Legacy.

On 11 June 2019, Erwin posted a photo on his Instagram where he mentioned his husband Kevin in the caption, writing,
“Me and my husband Kevin were very proud to welcome our King and Queen in the exhibition in the Gemeentemuseum Den Haag (in The Hague) today – just before the final day this Sunday 16 June.”
