Emmett Till had gone on vacation from Chicago to visit family in Money, Mississippi in the summer of 1955.
Till was shopping at a store owned by Roy and Carolyn Bryant and whistled at Mrs. Bryant, a white woman.

Caroline said in her lawsuit that the boy grabbed her, groped her, and also threatened her. She later added he had come to buy bubble gum and while paying the money Till said: “How about a date, baby?”.
Her ex-husband Roy, when he heard the story, decided to take revenge. So he along with his stepbrother hatched a plan to kill the young man. Emmett was sleeping at his relative’s house at 2:30 a.m. on August 28 when Roy abducted him. Neither man was ever convicted of a crime nor did he spend time in prison.
Caroline Donham had admitted that what she said at her trial was not true. Furthermore, he also confirmed that he fabricated most of the story. The 82-year-old woman entered author Timothy Tyson’s book “The Blood of Emmett Till” in 2007 on 26 January 2017.
Where Was Emmett Till Found?
Emmett Till passed away on 28 August 2023 and his body was pulled from the Tallahatchie River near Graball Landing in Tallahatchie County on 31 August 2023. He suffered a brutal murder.
Till body was found with barbed wire tied around his neck and attached to a 70-pound cotton gin fan.
