Even though the Boston Celtics suspended him for inappropriate behavior, coach Ime Udoka might just have a chance at redemption with the Brooklyn Nets. Nets’ owner Joe Tsai decided to part ways with coach Steve Nash after a disastrous tenure that led to the team never getting through the first round of the Playoffs in three consecutive occassions.
Amid this season’s lack of good results, it was only a matter of time before Nash parted ways with the team. But what’s next for the Brooklyn Nets? If things work out well for them, they could announce a new coach nefore the end of the week. Although the No. 1 option might not be well received by everybody.
According to a report from Adrian Wojnarowski, the Brooklyn Nets have none other than Ime Udoka as their first choice to replace Steve Nash. The Boston Celtics wouldn’t oppose the deal due to his recent incident, where he had an affair with a team staffer. According to Woj, the Nets could close the deal for Udoka over the next 24-48 hours if everything goes well.

Despite being disgraced in Boston, Udoka can possibly find redemption inside the court if he coaches the Nets this season. For Tuesday’s game against the Chicago Bulls, coach Jacque Vaughn is the one taking over the Brooklyn Nets but the hopes for Udoka remain strong.
What can Ime Udoka bring to the Brooklyn Nets?
ESPN reports that the Brooklyn Nets are hoping to get stronger on defense with Ime Udoka as their new head coach. His role in taking the Boston Celtics to the NBA finals last season earned him the respect of the elite-level players inside the team. Before taking the job in Boston, Udoka spent one season as part of Steve Nash’s staff. The suspension he got from his off-the-court issues doomed his future with the Celtis. But the future remains bright for him despite everything.
