Vijay Kumar was an IPS Officer from the 2009 batch, who had taken over as DIG in January this year.

Vijay was a senior police officer of the rank of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Coimbatore range.

According to Police he died by suicide and suspected that he shot himself on 7 July 2023.

DIG Vijay Kumar Passed away on 7 July 2023 in the premises of his quarters attached to the camp office at Red Fields near Racecourse in Coimbatore city.

Kumar used his gunman Ravi’s service revolver to shoot himself at his residence at 6.50 am today after a routine walk at the Racecourse Ground.

ADGP Arun Told Media That Vijayakuamr, had been suffering from obsessive-compulsive disorder and depression and that he was receiving treatment for the last few years.
