The general secretary of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, Champat Rai who has held the fort at the Ramjanabhoomi site since August 2020 when the Supreme Court paved the way for the construction of the Ram Temple.
He has been meticulously involved with the brick-by-brick construction of the Ram Temple from the ‘bhoomi pujan’ of the temple on 5 August 2020 to date in his capacity as the general secretary of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.
Due to Champat Rai’s deep knowledge of the alleys and history of the Ram Temple town, Champat Rai is called the “encyclopedia of Ayodha”.
When the case of Ramjanabhoomi was being intensely fought in the courts, Champat helped the counsels from the Hindu side with documentary evidence about Ram Lalla’s abode.

Champat Rai was born on 18 November 1946 in Mohalla Saraimir of Nagina tehsil, Bijnor Uttar Pradesh, India to Rameshwar Prasad Bansal (Father) and Smt. Savitri Devi (Mother).
He grew up with his 5 brothers and 4 sisters. Champat is a follower of the Hinduism religion. His religion is Scorpio and belongs to the Vaishya caste. He is 77 years old.
Champat Rai completd his primary studies in Bijnor and higher education in itself. He completed his bachelor’s degree from Meerut University and earned a master’s degree in science chemistry from the same university.
After earning his master’s degree, he worked as a Chemistry Professor at the RSM Degree College in Dahampur, Bijnor, UP, India. He had been influenced by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh since his childhood therefore he joined the RSS and worked as a pracharak of RSS from a young age.
He started to work hard to propagate the thoughts of the Sangh and worked as a campaigner for the Organization.
Once, Champat Rai was sent to jail due to his participation during the Emergency in 1977 in the case of the Ramjanmabhoomi movement. He spent 1.5 years in jail and later he became a member of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad in 1980.
He started to work to build a Ram Temple in Ayodhya with the help of other members of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad.
Champat Rai’s marital status is not revealed yet therefore it is unknown whether he has a wife and children or not.
