“Since the pandemic, she had left her flat in North London on “only a few occasions” to receive treatment for recurring infection.”

“Until her death, she continued to work with vulnerable children, who called her or visited her to discuss their traumas, their insecurities, and their challenges.

“Camila wanted to honour these children with the care and protection they deserved.”

Founder of charity Kids Company Camila Batmanghelidjh passed away at the age of 61 on 1 January 2024 on her birthday after having been ill for some time. She spent her last Christmas at home wrapping presents for vulnerable children. According to her family statement, she passed away peacefully in her sleep after celebrating her birthday with loved ones.

The statement read,

“For all those around her, and especially for her family, she was an endless source of inspiration, a fountain of wit, and a kaleidoscope of colour.”
