The Karnataka-based sculptor Arun Yogiraj created the Ram Lalla idol for the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya and he considers himself the luckiest person on earth. He told news agency ANI,

“I feel I am the luckiest person on the earth now. The blessing of my ancestors, family members and Lord Ram Lalla has always been with me. Sometimes I feel like I am in a dream world.”

The Pran Pratishtha ceremony at the Ram Temple was led by India’s PM Narendra Modi on 22 January 2024. The Ram Lalla idol was revealed just before the Pran Pratishtha. The idol was placed inside the Temple last week and shows the Ram Lalla as a 5-year-old standing on a lotus.

Arun Yogiraj has been married to Vijetha Yogiraj (Vijetha M Rao). His wife is a software engineer and an art enthusiast. Arun and his wife are blessed with two children including a duaghter who also has an interest in sculpting.

As Ram Lalla’s face was revealed, Arun Yogiraj’s wife Vijetha Yogiraj said that the final photo of Ram Lalla’s idol has not been revealed yet. She said,

“The final picture after the completion of the eyes is still not revealed. So I’m happy that we still can wait for the final picture. But anyhow, this, this is something, everybody is looking at is an idol, this murti of Ram Lalla and you can see Ram Lalla in front of our eyes and we are, this stone Krishna Shila has qualities where when you do Abhishek, that abhisheka, that is when you put milk, you can consume it also, it is, it does, it does not affect your health and milk comes out like milk. It does not turn into curd or anything, which is why we have, which is why this stone has been selected because it does not react to any acid or fire, water, feather featherproof, or anything. It will stay for several years to come, more than thousands of years.”

She expressed her happiness and pride as her husband played a key role in creating the Ram Lalla idol in Ayodha. During the crafting of the Ram Lalla’s idol, Arun followed a lifestyle similar to the time of Lord Ram observing a 6 month-long fat with diet limited to satvik bhojan, fruits, and sprouts.

Arun Yogiraj’s wife said,

“We never thought about this, but yes, Arun has so much talent. We were hoping that something like this would happen to him, and that his art would be recognized and appreciated worldwide. Arun has made us proud. Our family name and tradition have reached the sky.”

Vijetha M Rao ramakred also,

“We are planning to visit Ayodhya after the event. After Arun was selected to make ‘Prabhu’ Ram idol, people from everywhere showered love. Many people came and blessed us.”

Arun Yogiraj was born in 1983 in Mysore, Karnataka, India into a family of sculptors to Yogiraj Suttur (Father) and Saraswathi (Mother). His father is a renowned sculptor. Arun’s father has carved many idols and statues for temples and public places.

Arun’s father passed awya in October 2021 when he was doing the Subhash Chandra Bose statue. Arun grew up with his two siblings, a brother, and a sister.
