According to reports, Thomas Edwin is a 58-year-old ex-marine who was put on death row in 2001. He was found guilty of murder, rape, and four counts of sexual battery against Leesa. It is reported that the man kidnapped the teenager from the road by forcing her into his van. Reports confirm that during the summer on June 22, 2000, the minor girl was waiting tables at her uncle’s restaurant in northeast Mississippi.

When it got dark, she left work and got a flat tire when Loden stopped her all of a sudden. It was around 10:45 PM when the incident happened. Edwin started talking to her about anything and asked her to calm down saying he is a marine and that they do such stuff. After interrogation, Loden confessed raping the young girl for about four hours. He admitted that after raping her, he strangled her to death.
