In recent news, two men have lost their lives after getting involved in a collision. The fatal incident occurred on the A3083 near Culdrose, Helston, on December 7, 2022. After the announcement of the news, tributes have poured in for the deceased men on social media. Officials have identified the men as 23-year-old Callum Gilly Gilbert and 24-year-old Daniel Coxy Cox. They were both based at Royal Naval Air Station Culdrose. Who Was Callum Gilbert and Daniel Cox?
The commanding officer of RNAS Culdrose Captain Stuart Irwin said that they are all deeply saddened by the deaths of two of their people. “First and foremost, my heartfelt condolences go to the families and loved ones who have been affected by this tragic event”, said the officer further.
Adding further, the officer said that these were two bright young aircraft engineers who had already achieved so much and served with distinction. At 820 Naval Air Squadron across RNAS Culdrose and in the wider community here in West Cornwall, they are all coming to terms with their loss.

What Happened To Them?
Talking about LAET Gilbert, he had served with the 820 Naval Air Squadron previously as an able rating. Both and Cox had completed their respective training to leading hand earlier this year, also at RNAS Culdrose on the training unit 824 Naval Air Squadron.
The duo was part of the close-knit team which maintains and repairs the Squadron, said their loss had been keenly felt by all on the squadron but particularly among the engineers. He said that they are a close team and that these people all share so much. They do not just work together, deploy together, eat together, share a room together and see the world together.
He paid them tributes and said that it is the grin he remembers. He had good manners too which goes a long way. He had the ability to cheer everyone up with a look. Even on a cold night, coming off the deck of Queen Elizabeth, he always had a twinkle in his eye.
