The nation is all set to celebrate its 74th Republic Day. Just like every year, officers of the Indian Armed Forces will lead their respective contingents in the annual parade. Leading the contingent, many women officers will also be seen. One of these women officers includes Lieutenant Chetana Sharma. The lady officer will be in the annual parade at the capital’s Kartavyapath. Ever since her name came to the front, people have gotten curious to know about her. According to reports, Chetana Sharma will lead the made-in-India Akash surface-to-air missile system at the Parade. Sharing her excitement about being a part of the parade, she said that she always dreamt of taking part in the Republic Day parade, and finally, her dream is coming true as she will lead the homegrown missile system with eminent guests in attendance. Sharma went on to say that just like every individual, she watched the parade on TV, every year. Now, her hard work is paying her off as she will get to lead her respective contingent.

Who is Lt. Chetana Sharma?

Belonging to Khatu Shyam Village, Rajasthan, Chetana Sharma cleared the CDS examinations in her sixth attempt to enter the Armed Forces. Her number of attempts shows how determined she was with it as despite tasting failure several times, she did not give up and kept on preparing for the exam which eventually resulted in her getting selected. Well, this young and brave officer will now be a crucial part of the R-day parade.

Reports confirm that Chetana serves the Army Defence Regiment Unit. For those unversed, the said unit protects India’s air space from enemy aircraft and drones. Chetana attended NIT in Bhopal to complete her graduation and went on to enter the armed forces after clearing the CDS exam. Recently, Sharma spoke her heart out about her being a part of the parade.

She said that she is elated and ecstatic about being chosen as the very few female officers to take lead at the R-day parade. Adding further, the officer said that she was always enamored and inspired by the grandeur & magnificence of the Republic Day parade.
