Several sources claim that the cause of death was because of a combination of alcohol and heroin in his body. Later research confirmed that he struggled with substance misuse for the majority of his adult life and had even spent time in rehab previous to his death. His death was attributed to “mixed drug poisoning, involving intravenous heroin usage combined with the consumption of alcohol,” according to the final coroner’s report.
