90-year-old Bob McGrath has sadly passed away. Though he was old, his death still shattered his loved ones. Announcing his death, the American actor’s family said that he breathed his last on Sunday, December 4, 2022. The news of his passing was shared on Sunday. Taking to Facebook, the family shared a heartfelt post in which they wrote that their father passed away today and at the time of his death, he was surrounded by his family. Following the announcement, his fans and well-wishers are coming forward and expressing their sadness.

Bob McGrath was an original Sesame Street cast member. Although he appeared in plenty of films and projects, he was popularly known for essaying the original human character Bob Johnson on the long-running educational television series Sesame Street. After the news appeared online, Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit organization that produces educational children’s programs, took to Twitter to mourn the veteran actor’s demise. They wrote that he was been a beloved member of the Street family for more than 50 years.

Adding further, they wrote that Bob embodied the melodies of Sesame Street like no one else and his performances brought joy and wonder to generations of children around the world. Born on June 13, 1932, in Ottawa, Illinois, United States, Robert Emmett McGrath was an American actor, musician, children’s author, and singer. As mentioned, he was popular for his role in the TV series Sesame Street.
During an interview with Good Morning America in 1989, McGrath was asked about the most satisfying part of doing Sesame Street by Charlie Gibson to which he said, “you say you have raised five children. You did not raise five children. You have raised millions of kids”. He added that it is always hard in raising your own. Let us tell our readers that McGrath was a regular cast member on Sesame Street from 1969 to 2016. Talking about his favorite moments, he said that it were Christmas Eve in the series and the 1983 sequence that candidly addressed the death of the longtime character Mr. Hooper.
