He was a journalist according to his profession and he began his career by working for City tv from 1979 until he moved to Rogers Cable 10 television station in 1986. In the television station, he works for more than 11 years before being appointed as the lieutenant governor for Ontario in 2007. His service as Lieutenant Governor of Ontario becomes him the third longest-serving viceroy of country since Confederation.
