Sabrina Greenlee, the mother of DeAndre Hopkins, recently spoke about the horrific incident that changed her life. You must be wondering what was that incident that altered her life completely. Recalling the terrifying attack, Greenlee said, “This is it”, she remembers thinking as she lies there and added that her eyes were covered by a white veil and it was at that moment, she started to lose vision. At that time, DeAndre Hopkins was only 10 years old. He said that he was too young to grasp the seriousness of the situation and went on to say that he did not know his mother would never be able to see.

Hopkins said that his mother was attacked but was awake and conscious throughout and that she was hospitalized for 10 days and stayed in a coma. She was almost killed during the attack, and at one time she thought about giving up, but she continued and supported her son and daughter. For both Greenlee and her kids, moving back home with her family was challenging. She struggled with guilt over her inability to care for her children and worries about whether her abusers would be prosecuted.
During this stage of healing, Greenlee’s mental health suffered. She stated that extreme melancholy compelled her to spend more than three years alone in her chamber. According to reports, Greenlee was assaulted by Savannah Carlita Grant, who was sentenced to 20 years in jail for assault and battery with the intent to kill. The partner was not prosecuted. The majority of Hopkins’ home games are now attended by Greenlee, whose daughter murmurs the specifics of each play.
