Williamstown FC also took to Twitter to share a heartfelt post for Barry Round. They shared a picture of the player there and wrote that it is with great sadness that they share the passing of the club legend and went on to send their deepest condolences to the Round family. Apart from paying him tributes, netizens also searched for his cause of death. As per reports, Barry Round died on Saturday, December 24, 2022, due to organ failure. He was reportedly receiving palliative care but nothing seemed to work as it eventually claimed his life.

Who Was Barry Round?
As per sources, after making his VFL/AFL debut with Footscray in the first round of the 1969 season, Round played in 328 games over the course of his career. Before moving on to Sydney, where he participated in 193 games, he played 135 games with Footscray. At Williamstown, where he played another 110 games, his career came to an end.
Round’s finest individual career honor came in 1981 when he tied for first place with Bernie Quinlan of Fitzroy in the Brownlow Medal voting with 22 votes. 1950 saw the birth of Round at Warragul, where he quickly established himself as a dominant big man in the AFL. In 2001, he was inducted into the Australian Football Hall of Fame, and in 2003, he was chosen for Sydney’s Team of the Century. He led the team from 1980 to 1984 and won the Best and Fairest award twice in Sydney.
He served as Williamstown’s premiership captain and coach in 1986 and 1990, and in 2014, the club honored him with its first Hall of Fame. That same night, he was given Legend status.
