Known for his time spent coaching at his alma school, Knott Central, BB King reportedly passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2022. It is coming forward that he had pneumonia in both lungs. To receive treatment, he was admitted to a hospital. Despite getting all the best medical care and treatment, the head coach could not recover. It was reported that his condition started to deteriorate and he was placed on a vent in the ARH Whitesburg ICU unit.

Sadly, he could not recover and succumbed to his illness in the same hospital and leaving his family and loved ones in profound grief. Taking to social media, netizens paid tributes to him and extended their heartfelt condolences to his family. One user wrote, “sad day for those who grew up and played in the 14th region here in Kentucky. BB King was a tremendous coach and an even better person”, wrote one user.

Several tributary posts were shared on social media platforms as no one seemed to believe the fact that the coach has passed away so suddenly. Talking about BB King, he was a part of two 14th Region Championship teams while he was a player. With a total of 1,941 points, King became the Patriots’ third-leading scorer at all-time. Spending 12 years as the head coach at Knott Central, he won a total of seven district championships, five regional championships, and three regional All “A” titles.

260-109 was his overall record. Let us tell you that he coached the first Mr. Basketball to ever originate from Knott County, Camron Justice.
