One of the reasons why “Cold Justice” is popular is due to the fact that it is generally unscripted as compared to other reality television series which often actually follow a script or format at certain parts in order to retain their audiences. The show has helped generate numerous convictions over the course of its entire run, including over 35 arrests, four confessions, 18 convictions, three murder convictions, and three guilty pleas. The show has received generally favorable reviews, with some reviewers stating that the problems of the legal system and the crimes themselves provided enough entertainment for the audience.
Controversies and Other Endeavors
In 2014, a man named Joshua Singletary filed a defamation lawsuit against the producers of “Cold Justice”, following their investigation into the death of a woman who was stabbed and suffocated in her home in 2010. Joshua was implicated, but never fully exonerated. During the time of the murder, he was being treated at the hospital when he was arrested as a suspect but was later released due to lack of evidence. He mentions that the “Cold Justice” episode caused him to lose customers which led him to seek $100,000 in damages among other compensations he requested.

The popularity of “Cold Justice” eventually led to a spin-off show entitled “Cold Justice: Sex Crimes” which began in 2015. The show focused on unsolved sex crimes as the title denotes, and ran for a season of 10 episodes, featuring two prosecutors at the helm – Alicia O’Neill and Casey Garrett. The show was in danger of cancellation several times during its run with TNT, and in 2016, Yolanda made an announcement that the series was cancelled and that the production company was looking to sell the series to other networks. It was eventually acquired by the network Oxygen in 2017, leading to a fourth season airing in the same year. A fifth was later announced to run in 2018.
Personal Life and Social Media
For her personal life, it is known that Yolanda has been married to Michael Kelly McClary since 1990; there are no reports regarding their children, but she has mentioned grandchildren so presumably the couple have at least a son or daughter. She is known to be the inspiration of “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” character Catherine Willows who is played by actress Marg Helgenberger, and the show ran from 2000 to 2015 with Marg being a part of its entire run.
Similar to numerous television series, Yolanda is very active online to help her connect to fans and make announcements regarding “Cold Justice”. She initially only had a Facebook page, but has since expanded to having accounts with both Twitter and Instagram. She uses her social media accounts to showcase some personal pictures including of her family. She mentions that she has grandchildren though she hasn’t mentioned on how many children she has. Her online posts are sporadic, as she is likely balancing her television career with her personal life. She has officially retired from her work as a CSI, but still participates in the show.
