Amanda Freitag was born on the 11th May 1972, in Cedar Grove, New Jersey USA, and is a chef and television personality, who is probably best known for her appearances as a guest on the Food Network and Cooking channels in such shows as “Chopped”, and “America Diner Revival“, among many others.

Early Life, Parents, Siblings, and Education

Amanda Freitag is the daughter of Kathleen and Paul Freitag, who worked as a manager in a computer company; she is not an only child, as she has two older brothers. She attended the Cedar Grove High School, after which she became a student at the Culinary Institute of America.

Career Beginnings

Amanda`s career began soon after she received her diploma from the Culinary Institute Of America, working at the Vong New York, under chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten. Five years later, she switched to Verbena, under chef Diane Forley, however, that didn`t last long, as she began travel across Europe, mainly Italy and France, showing her skills at restaurants such as L’Arpège, among others.

Rise to Prominence

Her career reached a whole new level in the early 2000s, when she opened her own restaurant, teaming up with restaurateur Godfrey Polistina, to launch Cesca Enoteca & Trattoria, in the Upper West Side of Manhattan.

However, she then left the restaurant to join more famous one, The Harrison, in the position of executive chef, which increased her net worth by a large margin, but she moved on in 2010 to focus more her career on television. As Amanda was developing her cooking skills, her name was becoming more popular with the producers of the Food Network. She started as a contestant in such shows as “Chopped” in 2009, and then in “The Next Iron Chef”, appearing as a contestant on several occasions, firstly finishing in fourth place and in her second appearance reaching the finals, and finishing in second place, as she was defeated by  Alexandra Guarnaschelli.
