The Riches of Olesya Rulin

How rich is Olesya Rulin? As of late-2019 her net worth is ~$1.2 million, earned through a career in acting. She’s also done various television projects over the course of her career, and as she continues her endeavors, it is expected that her wealth will also continue to increase.

Early Life and Career Beginnings

Olesya spent most of her childhood in Likhoslavi, a town in Tver Oblast, Russia. At eight years of age she immigrated to the United States to rejoin her father who had gone back a few years earlier. They resided in Texas and later went to Utah, where she initially attended Jordan Middle School and also trained in ballet. With the urging of her mother, she joined a model search contest and was successful, gaining representation with four agencies.

She also played the piano, and did numerous jobs before becoming an actress full time. She was a certified nursing assistant, serving in that role for a year and also worked for Victoria’s Secret as well as Nordstrom. She began her acting career in the film “High School Musical”, which is the most successful Disney Channel Original Movie ever produced, and its soundtrack the best-selling album in the US in 2006. During this time, she was still working part time in retail stores, and later matriculated from West Jordan High School.

Career Prominence

Rulin then moved to Paris to study economics, and that was when she started working on the sequel “High School Musical 2”, with the stars of the previous film including Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Tisdale all returned to reprise their respective roles. In 2008, all of them returned once more for “High School Musical 3: Senior Year”, which is the only film in the series to be released theatrically. She had much larger parts in the sequel films compared to the original, even having solo performances in both. Over the next few years, she worked on numerous other Disney Channel Original Films, such as “Halloweentown High” and “The Poof Point”, which is based on the children’s novel of the same name.

She then appeared in feature films outside Disney Channel, including “Forever Strong”, a sports film about a troubled rugby union player and based on a number of individual true stories. She also worked on the films “Mobsters and Mormons” and “The Dance”, followed by the film “Major Movie Star”, which was released in the US as “Private Valentine: Blonde & Dangerous”.

Later Projects

In 2009, Olesya starred alongside Heather Locklear and Billy Ray Cyrus in the film “Flying By”, a drama and the last film of Patricia Neal. The following year she starred in “Expecting Mary” alongside Linda Gray, Elliot Gould and Lainie Kazan, in the comedy drama film that premiered at the Palm Springs International Film Festival, and was directed by Dan Gordon. In 2013, she appeared in “Family Weekend” with Matthew Modine and Kristin Chenoweth.

The following year, she joined the PlayStation Network series “Powers”, which is an adaptation of the Marvel comic book series of the same name, released under their Icon Comics imprint. The project is the first venture of the PlayStation network into television programming, and it was renewed for a second season before being cancelled in 2016.

A few of her latest projects include guest appearances in “NCIS” and “The Night Shift”, which is a medical drama series on NBC, following the late night shift emergency room staff at the San Antonio Memorial Hospital. She also voiced a guest character in an episode of “Family Guy”, an animated series by Seth MacFarlane, exhibiting gags which often reflect American culture.

Personal Life

Rulin was previously in a relationship with model and actor Nico Tortorella but their relationship ended, and his photos on her social media accounts were deleted, though photos of her on his account could still be viewed. She has mentioned that she is a pescatarian, ie eats seafood but not meat. She is fluent in speaking, writing, and reading Russian. During her free time, she does a lot of charity work, and has been seen helping clean beaches. She has also spent time with dogs that don’t have homes, and has given away some of her dresses for charity.

1 My friends call me conservation girl.
2 I’m a little nervous, actually, because this is my first tour and it’s in my home town so I hope people like it. But really, this is a dream job for me because I love animals and I’ve always been passionate about protecting the environment.
3 [about Urban Legends: Bloody Mary] This is my first horror flick, yes. Just a small role. I’m kind of disappointed that I didn’t get to die.
