She then made her Broadway debut in an adaptation of “To Be or Not to Be”, which is based on the 1940s film of the same name. Other projects she had include “Manipulation”, “Beauty of the Father”, and the musical comedy entitled “Perfect Harmony” in which she created the role of Kerri Taylor; the musical is about the greatest a cappella group in high school history – the Acafellas – who won 18 national championships.

Film and Television Work

Squerciati’s first film project was “The Nutcracker” in 1993, but she didn’t really get a lot of on-screen roles until her feature film debut in 2009’s “It’s Complicated”, in the role of Melanie; the romantic comedy film stars Meryl Streep and Alec Baldwin. During this time, she also made numerous guest appearances in popular television shows, such as “The Good Wife”, “Damages”, and “Blue Bloods”. In 2011, she was cast in a recurring role in the series “Gossip Girl”, playing the role of Alessandra Steele for eight episodes in the show which is based on the book series of the same name written by Cecily von Ziegesar.

She then appeared in two films in 2012, including “Alter Egos” which is a superhero comedy film starring Kris Lerriche, followed by a supporting role in “Frances Ha” which premiered at the Telluride Film Festival. The following year, she had a role in the independent film “Sparks”, based on the graphic novel of the same name written by Christopher Folino, and also lent her voice to the animated film “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2”, in which she did numerous additional voices for the film.

Chicago P.D. and Later Work

In 2014, Marina had a small role in the film “A Walk Among the Tombstones” which starred Liam Neeson, and during the same year she was cast in her best-known role in the series “Chicago P.D.”, playing the character Officer Kim Burgess who is a patrol officer. She’s been with the show since its pilot, and continues to be a main character in the show, which is the second installment of the “Chicago” franchise by Dick Wolf, and follows the patrol officers and the Intelligence Unit of the 21st District of the Chicago Police Department.

Her popularity has led her to make guest appearances in other shows of the “Chicago” franchise; she is a frequent guest of “Chicago Fire”, and also made guest appearances in “Chicago Med”, and in “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” in the same role. While working on these shows, she was cast in the 2017 film entitled “Marshall”, a biographical film about Thurgood Marshall, the first African-American Supreme Court Justice, and stars Chadwick Boseman in the titular role. She plays the character Stella Friedman, but although and the film got good reviews, it only grossed $10 million against a $12 million budget.

For her personal life, it is known that Squerciati is married to Eli Kay-Oliphant, who is rumored to be working in the Chicago based law firm called Massey & Gail LLP.
