Who is Lauren Southern?

Lauren Cherie Southern was born on 16 June 1995, in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada, and is an internet personality, journalist and political activist, probably best known through her work with The Rebel Media. She has also worked for “Spiked” and the “International Business Times”, but all of her efforts have helped put her net worth to where it is today.

The Wealth of Lauren Southern

How rich is Lauren Southern? As of mid-2018, sources inform us of a net worth that is at least over $100,00, earned through success in her numerous endeavors, but particularly on YouTube on which she works independently and publishes videos. As she continues her career, it is expected that her wealth will also continue to increase.

Early Life and Career Beginnings

Very little information is known about Lauren’s early life, though it is known that she attended the University of Fraser Valley studying political science, however, she only completed two years of her course and was not able to complete a degree. She became very active as a political activist early in her life, and would become a part of the 2015 Canadian federal election, representing the Libertarian Party in the district of Langley-Aldergrove. While she was briefly removed by the party, she was later reinstated thanks to the support of The Rebel Media and Breitbart News. However, she finished last in the voting, but then started gaining popularity through her work with The Rebel Media which also often stirred up controversy; for example, she was seen reporting at the Vancouver SlutWalk, in which her sign “There is No Rape Culture in The West” was torn up. In 2016, she started engaging with LGBTQ protesters in Vancouver, and one protester poured urine over her head.

Activism and Controversies

She continued attracting attention and controversy, criticizing Facebook for banning several conservative commentators, which led to her being mistakenly suspended from the site. She has also authored her the book entitled “Barbarians: How Baby Boomers, Immigrants, and Islam Screwed My Generation” which she self-published. Her work with The Rebel Media would last until 2017, when she announced that she would become an independent journalist, and soon after gained access to White House press briefings. She was one of several scheduled speakers at a Patriots’ Day rally in Berkley, California, which was discontinued as the rally erupted into a riot between anti-Trump protestors and pro-Trump demonstrators.

Southern is known to be a part of the groups “Generation identitare”, and “Defend Europe” whose goals at the time were to target NGO ships and stop them from operating rescue operations supposedly filling-up with illegal immigrants. The two groups have been accused of obstructing the rescue of migrants and refugees at sea. The events caused Patreon to delete her account over concerns of her using funds to take part in activities that would likely lead loss of life, allegations which she denied.

Recent Endeavors

In 2018, Lauren along with others were denied entry into the United Kingdom, when Border Force deemed their ‘presence in the UK as not conducive to the public good’. The previous month they were seen in the English town of Luton distributing flyers which targeted the Islamic faith. She also tried her hand at speaking in New Zealand, but was later denied entry by the Mayor of Auckland Phil Goff as the Auckland Council believed that she along with her companions would only stir up religious and ethnic tensions.

The decision to stop her from entering New Zealand proved controversial and divided politicians and groups with some advocating free speech while others believed the ban was essential to keep the peace. She then planned on going on a tour of Australia, which initially denied her a Visa but was later approved to enter the country.  She’s also known to be working on a documentary called “Farmlands”, which will focus on the post-Apartheid farm violence in South Africa.

Personal Life

There has been no reports that Southern is in any romantic relationship, and she seems to be more focused on her activism than anything else. She has been described as far right, right-wing, and alt-right. She has also been criticized as anti-feminist, white nationalist, Islamophobic, and xenophobic. She has been vocal against European countries accepting refugees or migrants from other countries such as Asia and Africa, believing that it is a step towards white genocide. She has been labelled as a conspiracy theorist and an agent of propaganda.

Southern retains her own YouTube account, which is a means to promote her advocacies, and she also has a personal website which functions in a similar manner.
