In the early hours of May 22, 2013, Islamist terrorists Michael Adebolajo and Michael Adebowale attacked and killed the father of Jack Rigby, Fusilier Lee Rigby.
He was one of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers near the Royal Artillery Barracks in Woolwich, southeast London.
When Rigby was attacked, he was off duty and walked along Wellington Street. The terrorists ran over him with a car before stabbing and hacking him to death with knives and a cleaver.
The men told onlookers that they had slain Rigby to exact revenge on Muslims killed by the British military as they pulled Rigby’s body into the street and remained there until Police arrived.
Both attackers were convicted of killing Rigby on December 19, 2013.
They were both given life sentences on February 26, 2014, with Adebolajo receiving a whole life term and Adebowale receiving a minimum 45-year sentence.

He admitted to The Mirror that going to the gym ‘distracts’ him from his loss. He said that going for a long walk gives me a respite and helps me remember things aren’t all horrible.
However, he now claims that working out helps him deal with his grief, and he plans to run a marathon to earn money.

‘Just because Jack was little, that doesn’t mean he’s forgotten Lee,’ Jack’s mother Rebecca, 40, told the newspaper.
He wants to demonstrate that he hasn’t lost sight of his father despite having grown up without Lee.
